Already completed your Competent Communicator manual and looking to take your speaking to the next level? Then come have a yak with Yakety Yaks Advanced Toastmasters.

‘The Yaks aims to help experienced Toastmasters become even better speakers,’ says Club President Darren McClelland. ‘Our meetings extend beyond the usual boundaries of Toastmasters’ meetings and we constantly challenge ourselves as speakers.’ Innovative activities the Yaks have run include reverse meetings, theatre sports, and Pecha Kucha meetings.

Yaks meetings give members the chance to experiment with new and creative ideas in a supportive environment. ‘I performed a musical based on my life at one meeting,’ says member Louise Riseley. ‘And just last night we had a speech delivered by a ghost! It was a little bit spooky and a big bit funny.’

Yaks members are all experienced Toastmasters, so high quality evaluation is a hallmark of the club. ‘I learn something at every Yaks meeting,’ says Vice-President PR, Vivien Ellard. ‘We can always do things better and Yaks supports speakers to go from good to great.’ Yaks membership is open to all Toastmasters who have completed their CC and our agenda always allows time for longer advanced manual speeches.

The Yakety Yaks meet at 6pm on the second Thursday of each month at the Multicultural Hub, 506 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne. Guests of any level are always welcome! Come have a yak with us at Yakety Yaks Advanced Toastmasters.
