What’s happening at the Semi-Annual Conference?
9:10am – 10:10am Pathways educational
This will be an opportunity for anyone who has missed out on the club visit from their Pathways Guide to learn about the ins-and-outs of the new education program. There is no charge for attendance to this event; bookings essential.
10:20am – 1:00pm District Council Meeting
The District Council Meeting is a chance for Club Presidents, Club VPEs, Area Directors, Division Directors and the District Leadership Team to meet and discuss important district matters. Further details of this event will be communicated by the district. There is no charge for attendance to this event; bookings essential.
2:10pm – 3:10pm Talking Sense – The Language of Leadership with Brett Rutledge
This year we have special guest speaker, World Champion Brett Rutledge who will be speaking about the language of leadership.
‘The primary communication tool of any leader is language,’ Brett says. ‘Surprisingly, most leaders pay very little attention to their language and the impact it has on their communication.’
Brett will examine the concept of leadership through the eyes of a linguist and guarantees that you’ll never look at ‘leadership’ the same way again.
As well as being a former World Champion of Public Speaking, he is also an internationally regarded business strategist, linguist and communication expert. He has acted as a key advisor on the language, meaning and structure of some of the most important commercial deals undertaken in Australasia, working with many high profile individuals and organisations to change the way they are perceived, valued and respected.
3:20pm – 4:05pm Workshop by Bharat Sangekar: The Contest Within Yourself
Bharat is the 2017 International Contest Winner for our district and twice Semi-Finalist in the World Championship of Public Speaking. This is a workshop not to be missed!
4:05pm – 4:50pm Q&A Panel
Q&A session is to have members submit a question prior to the event to given to the MC for the event. The questions will be put to the panel for discussion.

The venue this year is conveniently located right next to Flinders Street Station making it easily accessible via public transport.
